For horses with carpus (equine knee) instability, this application teaches biomechanics support logic for carpal overextension (hyperextension)—including rehab, post‑procedure/post‑op support, arthritis management, and prevention—using EquiTecs 4‑Way Stretch Tape (multidirectional stretch) for safer, more reproducible outcomes.

24-Minute Digital Course — Lifetime Access via EquiTecs App

  • What it is: Step-by-step protocol for carpus (knee) support—ideal for injury, surgery, chronic issues, and swelling.
  • What you get: Instant, on-demand video instruction + application demo.
  • How it works: Apply EquiTecs 4-way tape (2", 25–30% stretch; up to 50% if needed), add 3" layer for more restriction, layer 2-way tape for swelling.
  • Access: Anytime, on any device. Lifetime included.
Equine functional taping for horse carpus support, knee arthritis, and post-op joint rehabilitation.

Course Overview

EquiTecs EFT Carpus (Knee) Support Application

A 24-minute, on-demand digital course teaching the Equine Functional Taping (EFT) protocol for carpus (knee) support. Learn to stabilize the carpus after injury, surgery, or for chronic joint issues, and provide immediate comfort and relief. Instantly accessible via the EquiTecs App (Apple, Google, and web). Lifetime access included.

Equine functional taping for horse carpus support, knee arthritis, and post-op joint rehabilitation.

What You'll Learn:

  • How to support the carpus after injury, surgery, or for chronic joint issues
  • When and how to restrict motion using tape vs. stall rest
  • How to combine support and circulation applications for swelling
  • Tips for taping post-surgically and around sutures/staples

What this application does (and doesn’t do)

Does

  • Provides a biomechanics-based carpus (equine knee) support application for instability and carpal overextension (hyperextension)
  • Uses EquiTecs 4‑Way Stretch Tape (multidirectional stretch) to create a more stable, more controlled support outcome
  • Helps you apply support in a repeatable, step-by-step way (not “random strips and hope”)
  • Fits real-world goals: rehab, post‑procedure/post‑op support, arthritis management, and prevention

Doesn’t

  • Doesn’t replace the need to address the underlying driver of instability (strength, workload, mechanics, tissue capacity, trim/shoeing strategy, etc.)
  • Doesn’t work as intended if you swap tape types—2‑Way tape is not a structural support tool
  • Doesn’t mean “set it and forget it”—this is designed to be reassessed and adjusted as the horse changes

What you need (Biomechanics Support System)

For true support/stability outcomes, this application is built around the EquiTecs biomechanics system:

Key Course Details

  • Format: 100% digital, instant on-demand access via EquiTecs App
  • Length: 24 minutes (lecture + application demo)
  • Access: Lifetime (learn at your own pace, revisit anytime)
  • Includes: Video lecture, clinical protocol, step-by-step demo

Who this is for

  • Horses with carpus (equine knee) instability—especially when the knee feels like it “drops” into overextension (hyperextension)
  • Rehab cases where you need more controlled support while rebuilding strength and stability
  • Post‑injury / post‑procedure / post‑op support cases where added structure is needed early on
  • Horses needing support for arthritis management in the carpus (knee)
  • Prevention for horses with a history of knee instability, heavy work, or conformational risk

Application: What & Why (Carpus Support)

  • What: Provides support and stability for the carpus (knee), reduces swelling, and helps prevent overextension and arthritis
  • Why: Safer and more effective than stall rest, speeds recovery, reduces need for pain medication, and improves comfort

Unique Clinical Notes

  • Overextension is the most common carpal injury; tape with carpus bent
  • Carpus is a simple hinge joint—should not flex medially/laterally
  • Support taping naturally draws inflammation out; add circulation taping if fluid pools
  • Post-surgical taping reduces swelling and pain, speeds recovery
  • Always tape around (not over) sutures/staples

Markers of Success

  • Immediate relief and improved comfort
  • Reduction in swelling, improved range of motion (as indicated)
  • Faster post-surgical recovery, less pain medication needed
  • Tape remains secure (no peeling or rolling)

FAQ

Can I use this for equine knee support?

Yes. Carpus is the clinical term; knee is the common term. This application is for carpus (equine knee) support.

What is this best for—general knee support or overextension?

This application is built for both carpal overextension (hyperextension) and general support. In the course, Rebecca will explain how to vary the application.

Do I need 4‑Way tape for this, or can I use 2‑Way?

For support/stability, you need EquiTecs 4‑Way Stretch Tape (multidirectional stretch). 2‑Way tape is used for functional goals (decompression, circulation/lymphatics, neuro, fascia, muscle)—not structural support.

My horse is post‑injury/post‑surgery. Is there anything special I should know or need right away?

Yes. For those cases, this application should be taped first with 4‑Way 2" tape, and then directly over the top with 4‑Way 3" tape. Rebecca will go over this inside the education, but make sure you have both sizes on hand.

Can this be used for arthritis in the carpus (knee)?

Yes. This is commonly used as part of arthritis management when the goal is added support and improved stability.

How do I know if I need more support (or a different approach)?

If the knee still feels unstable, continues to drop into extension, or the horse can’t maintain position under load, you may need to reassess positioning, tape size/layering, and the overall support plan.

Can my horse train or go out to turnout in this application?

Yes. If the application is done correctly (as Rebecca teaches in the education), you should often see an immediate change in biomechanics—the horse will look better right away. That doesn’t mean the underlying structures are magically healed; it means the tape is doing what it’s supposed to do: providing the support the soft tissue can’t fully provide yet.
And that’s the goal—because the more the horse can move in a biomechanically correct way, the better and faster the soft tissue can heal and condition.

Why does this work when “taping the knee” hasn’t helped in the past?

Most failed “knee taping” attempts come from using the wrong tape type for the goal. This is a support/stability application built around 4‑Way multidirectional stretch and biomechanics positioning—so it’s designed to produce a more reproducible support outcome.

How do I access?

Instantly via the EquiTecs App on any device. Lifetime access included.
