EquiTecs FAQ

Getting started (App vs Website)

I don’t see my course in the app. What do I do?

Most access issues stem from using a different email than the one used at checkout.

Try this checklist:

  • Confirm you’re logging into the app with the same email used at checkout
  • Check your order confirmation email to confirm which email was used
  • Log out and log back in
  • If you used Apple/Google “hide my email,” try logging in with that relay email
  • Use “Forgot Password” on the app login screen if you can’t log in
  • Check your spam/junk folder for EquiTecs emails

If it’s still not showing, email help@equitecs.com so we can match your purchase to the correct account.

I bought a course — do I watch it on the website or in the app?

Your purchase happens on the EquiTecs website (www.equitecs.com). Your education is delivered through the EquiTecs app.

  • Website = where you buy tape + courses
  • App = where you watch/learn (videos, lessons, community, case studies depending on the course)

If you don’t see your course right away:

  • Check the email you used at checkout for your access instructions
  • Check spam/junk
Do I need the app to access my education?

Yes — education is fulfilled immediately through the EquiTecs app. The app is available on Apple, Google, and your favorite web browser.

I can’t log in / I used the wrong email at checkout — what do I do?

Most access issues come down to using a different email than the one used at checkout. What to do:

  • Try logging in with the exact email used on your order confirmation
  • Check spam/junk for the access email
  • If you still can’t access, contact support and include your order number and the email(s) you may have used

Yes. There is a professional pricing registration process.

Registration form: https://www.equitecs.com/pages/professional-pricing

How do I check my order status or tracking?

Check your shipping confirmation email for tracking info or in the customer hub.

Certification & credentials

Can I get certified if I’m “just” a horse owner (not a professional)?

Yes. The EFT Certification course is 100% online and is designed to be accessible without prerequisites.

Do I need credentials to take the EFT Certification course?

No prerequisites are required for EFT Certification.

Is certification included automatically when I buy a course?

Certification is tied to the certification program requirements (course completion + any required case studies/exam inside the program). If you’re unsure which program you purchased, check your order confirmation and your app library.

Do you offer Continuing Education Credits/Units?

Yes. We offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through select EquiTecs courses:

  • EquiTecs EFT Certification Course: 20 CEUs
  • OIO Biomechanics Course: 25 CEUs

Choosing the right course - Education

What course is right for me?

Use this quick guide:

  • New to EquiTecs / want the safest foundation: start with the Basics/Fundamentals-style training
  • Want a professional pathway + structured system: choose EFT Certification
  • Already a qualified professional and want advanced biomechanics: OIO Biomechanics may be a fit.
What certification options are available?

EquiTecs offers two certification routes, depending on your background and the level of work you’re qualified for.

  1. EFT Certification (EquiTecs Functional Taping)
  • Best for: Practitioners who want horse-specific, research-backed taping education they can use in real practice
  • CE hours: 20 CE hours
  • Prerequisites: No prerequisites required
  • How certification is earned: Complete the education, submit case studies, and pass an exam
  • Typical timeline: Most practitioners complete the full certification process in ~6 months to 1 year, depending on pace and case study completion
  • Course link: https://www.equitecs.com/products/eft-certification-course
  1. OIO Biomechanics
  • Best for: Qualified equine healthcare professionals who want advanced biomechanics education and a structurally different taping approach
  • Important: OIO is a separate advanced modality from EFT (different purpose + different taping logic)
  • Who can enroll: Restricted to qualified equine healthcare professionals
  • Prerequisites/requirements: Pre-qualification is required before enrollment. It is not open to trainers, competitive riders, or horse owners who are not healthcare professionals.
  • CE hours & commitment: Course material is approximately 25 hours (the page notes it is being evaluated for 25 continuing education hours)
  • Certification: Requires course completion, live case studies, and a digital exam; certification can take up to one year

What is the EquiTecs EFT Library Card?

The EFT Library Card is a subscription-style access product for ongoing protocols, tips, and updates (positioned as a “library card” concept).

Where do I find downloads/handouts/supporting materials inside a course?

Inside each course, look for the “Supporting Materials” section.

My content shows as locked—what do I do?

Try this checklist:

  • Confirm you are logged into the app with the exact email used at checkout
  • Log out and log back in
  • If you used Apple/Google “hide my email,” try logging in with that relay email
  • Search your inbox (and spam/junk) for your EquiTecs order confirmation to confirm which email was used

If the issue persists, email help@equitecs.com so we can match your purchase to the correct account.

Tape basics

What’s the difference between 2-Way and 4-Way Equine Functional Tape?

They are engineered for different jobs.2-Way Stretch Tape

  • Best for: muscle activation/relaxation, circulation/lymphatic work, neuro support, fascia work
  • Stretch: up to ~200% longitudinal stretch (directional)
  • Adhesive options: gentle (5N) and standard (7N)

4-Way Stretch Tape

  • Best for: support/stability for joints, tendons/ligaments, structural applications
  • Multi-directional stretch
  • Adhesive: stronger (9N)
How long can the tape stay on?
  • 2-Way: can stay on for weeks (until recoil is lost)
  • 4-Way: remove after 5 days, clean, and reapply
Will the tape work for my horse’s specific issue?

EquiTecs taping is protocol-driven and works best when you match:

  • the right tape type (2-way vs 4-way)
  • the right protocol goal (activation, relaxation, decompression, circulation, support)
  • the right technique (stretch percentage + anchors)

If you want the simplest “buy the right stuff + follow the right plan” option, start with our Signature Bundles — they’re built around the most common issues we see and include the tape + training that matches the protocol:
https://www.equitecs.com/collections/equitecs-education-tape-bundles Important: the #1 cause of “it didn’t work” is overstretching or poor prep.

Do you have a “gentle” option for sensitive horses?

Yes. EquiTecs offers a lower-tack 2-Way Gentle option intended for very sensitive horses/foals (and it can also be used for humans).

What is the shelf life of EquiTecs tape?

Tape shelf life is typically 2 years when stored properly (cool, dry conditions).

How do I remove tape?

Remove gently in the direction of hair growth. If you need help, follow the removal guidance inside EquiTecs education/protocols.

Functional taping vs kinesiology taping

Is this just kinesiology taping for horses?

No. EquiTecs is equine functional taping — engineered specifically for horses and built around equine biomechanics, hair interaction, and safety.

Kinesiology taping is typically adapted from human use. Functional taping is protocol-based and outcome-driven (support, decompression, circulation, neuro, fascia, etc.).

What is Equine Functional Taping (EFT)?

Equine Functional Taping (EFT) is a horse-specific athletic and therapeutic taping system that uses targeted applications to influence comfort, movement, stability, swelling, fascia, muscle response, lymphatics, and neurological function.

Important notes:

  • EFT effects are local (not systemic)
  • Technique matters: overstretching is the #1 cause of failure
  • EquiTecs tape is engineered for horses and designed with safety in mind

OIO Biomechanics

Is OIO just “advanced EFT education”?

OIO is an advanced biomechanics-focused program and is not open to the public.

Who can take OIO Biomechanics?

OIO requires pre-qualification and is intended for vetted professionals (examples include veterinarians, equine chiropractors, equine rehabilitation specialists, vet techs, and equine massage therapists).

How do I apply for OIO?

Complete the pre-qualification form here: https://www.powr.io/form-builder/i/38668771#page
