Want to Start an Equine Healthcare Career Without Wasting Years (or Thousands) First?

You get out of your equine healthcare career what you put into it. EFT Certification gives you a horse-specific modality with far-reaching scope—so you can become useful faster, without spending years (or thousands) just to get started.

20 CE hours • No prerequisites • Certification earned via exam + 7 case studies

Real-time feedback you can see during application

This is the kind of response EFT practitioners watch for: changes in facial expression, attention, and parasympathetic response that often show up during application—then carry over into handling and daily function.

"Juno has always been one to react to tape—usually by blinking slower, breathing deeper, licking and chewing, and yawning. The fascia application was the first time I had seen her react to tape by paying attention to it with her ear back on it. After one side was done, she paid attention to the tape, shaking her head and licking and chewing. After finishing both sides and turning her out, she yawned 4 times, back-to-back. A few days later, I had someone she was less familiar with pick out her feet, and they reported she was much more open to their engagement and stood well, which I also witnessed to be true.”

The Scary Truth: Most New Practitioners Spend Thousands… and Still Can’t Produce Consistent Results

You can love horses, take a few classes, buy the “right” tools… and still end up standing in a barn thinking, “Okay—what do I actually do first?”

That’s why so many aspiring practitioners bounce between modalities, collect certificates, and still don’t feel confident charging for their work—because most training doesn’t give you a repeatable, decision-based skill you can apply on real horses in real timelines.

And when you don’t have a system, you either freeze… or you default to whatever seems safest: “I’ll just do massage,” “I’ll refer everything out,” or “I guess I need another course.” That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a training design problem.

EFT Certification is built to be the opposite. It gives you a horse-specific, protocol-driven modality with real standards (exam + case studies) so you can create client-noticeable change you can document, repeat, and build confidence—and a career—on.

Fast, Visible Change—Backed by Clinical Research

If a modality doesn’t create meaningful change fast, it doesn’t survive in real practice. That’s why “adjunctive” tools so often become expensive equipment collecting dust: they’re inconsistent, hard to justify, or they take too long to show anything you can actually point to.

Functional taping is different—and we have clinical research to back that up. In a double-blind randomized controlled trial on post-operative swelling, the group that received kinesiologic tape showed significantly less swelling by day 4 compared to controls (5.76 cm² vs. 9.45 cm²; p < 0.01) and the tape was well-tolerated with no adverse reactions reported (Tozzi et al., 2016). Translation: it’s a simple, economical intervention that can produce visible, measurable change—fast.

That’s exactly why we built Equine Functional Taping (EFT) inside the Haddock Method as a functional modality: not theory, not “try this pattern,” and not a tool you only pull out for special cases. EFT is designed to be used in everyday workflows by vets, vet techs, clinics, chiropractors, rehab specialists, and bodyworkers—because it’s repeatable, reliable, and practical to implement without adding a massive equipment bill.

When you can create results you can see and document quickly, the modality doesn’t just sound good—it actually gets used.

Tozzi U, Santagata M, Sellitto A, Tartaro GP. Influence of Kinesiologic Tape on Post-operative Swelling After Orthognathic Surgery. J Maxillofac Oral Surg. 2016. (PubMed Central)

The core issue for most people trying to start an equine healthcare career isn’t passion—it’s the all-in investment. The traditional paths (vet tech programs, school-based tracks, years of prerequisites) take too long and cost too much before you ever get to a usable, income-producing skill.

And the “faster” alphabet-soup certifications often come with a different problem: they’re either too narrow (helpful for one or two things) or too equipment-dependent (so you’re thousands of dollars in before you can even practice consistently).

EFT is different. It’s built from real science and designed as a practical, barn-usable modality you can learn online on your schedule—without expensive machines—so you can start getting effective results and building paid confidence sooner. You’re not just collecting information; you’re building a repeatable skill with standards (exam + case studies) that make you confident and credible.

Why EFT Is the Best First Modality (and Why Most Taping Courses Don’t Stick)

Most modalities people start with fall into one of two traps: they’re either slow and expensive to enter, or they’re so narrow you can’t get enough consistent wins to build confidence (or income) quickly.

EFT is different because it’s a horse-specific, protocol-driven system you can apply across a wide range of real-world cases—without needing a clinic buildout or a $10,000 equipment stack. It’s designed to be used in barns, by real people, on real timelines.

And compared to most taping education out there, the difference is simple: we don’t teach you a pile of patterns and call it a certification. We teach you how to make decisions—what to do, when to do it, how much stretch to use, what outcome markers to look for, and how to troubleshoot when a horse doesn’t respond the way you expected. That’s why our students actually use this skill day-to-day instead of letting it collect dust.

Why EFT beats most “alphabet soup” modalities as a first step

  • Low overhead: no machines, no clinic buildout, no ongoing consumables beyond tape
  • Broad usefulness: not a “one-problem tool” — you can help a lot of common issues
  • Portable: works barn-to-barn, client-to-client
  • Fast feedback loop: you can see change and build confidence through reps

Why EFT Certification beats most taping courses

  • Horse-specific engineering: not adapted from human kinesiology tape
  • Protocol-driven: you’re not guessing which pattern to use
  • Standards: certification is earned (exam + case studies), not handed out
  • Troubleshooting included: because real horses aren’t textbook horses
  • Safety-first: less stretch than you think, clear rules, and tape designed to “give” if misapplied

Don’t Wait Until You Feel Ready - Grit Matters. So Does Having One Hell of a Teacher.

A lot of people think the difference between “I want to do this” and “I can actually do this” is passion.

Passion helps. So does grit. Practice matters too. But let’s be real—you can have all of that and still fall flat on your face if the education is vague, pattern-based, or taught by someone who can’t actually teach.

This is where EFT Certification is different: it’s not just the modality—it’s the educator behind it. I have yet to have a student go through my education who doesn’t rate it high or become a long-term customer, and our retention proves it. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because the training is clear, protocol-driven, and built to work in real barns with real horses.

And here’s the promise I make every student: I will show up on my end. As long as I draw breath, I will keep educating and innovating—so the system gets better, the protocols get clearer, and the results keep stacking.

All you have to do is your part: bring the drive, bring the passion, and get the hell up and do something. That’s how confidence gets built. That’s how credibility gets earned. And that’s how careers start.

What Is Equine Functional Taping (EFT)—and What Does It Actually Do?

What Is Equine Functional Taping (EFT)—and What Does It Actually Do?

EFT is a horse-specific, evidence-based way to influence how the body moves, stabilizes, and recovers—using a tape engineered for equine hair, fascia, and real barn conditions. It’s not magic, and it’s not “just support.” It’s a tool with clear objectives and repeatable outcomes when it’s applied correctly.

EFT works through three main mechanisms

1) Neurosensory communication (hair root plexus + fascia)
The tape interacts through the hair root plexus and fascia to communicate with structures below the surface—muscles and nerves included. This is how we can influence things like muscle relaxation or muscle activation (depending on direction, stretch, and technique).

2) Support & stabilization (safer range of motion)
When an area needs protection—especially after injury—taping can help create a more natural “stop” before a joint or structure hits the danger zone. Think: you’re not forcing the horse into a brace; you’re giving the body a safer limit so it doesn’t overextend past what it can currently handle.

3) Circulation & lymphatic movement (fluid management)
EFT can help increase circulation or move fluid (blood/lymph) to support recovery, reduce swelling, and improve comfort—depending on the goal and application.

How it works (in plain language)

It works through the stretch and recoil of the tape. Your job isn’t to memorize patterns—it’s to match the right technique to the right objective so you get the desired outcome consistently. My job is to teach you those techniques so you can apply them correctly, safely, and repeatably.
